We
took the little trek there from 181st. Great sandwiches and very
fresh. The staff were cool and offered to "escort" us to the barber
shop next store if we needed to use the bathroom (which we just went on
our own and there was no problem). The turkey was fresh, the bread was
fresh, the veggies wee fresh and well cooked. The sweet tea was great
and I like that they make things fresh.
They even had free "samples (I use quotes b/c they were regular size pieces)" of coffee cake.
And they will deliver to 181st!
We were very pleased w/the selection and even had our picture taken for the Manhattan Times.
Its great to have this place in the hood. More places mean better quality of life also.
Go Washy!

Finally went today.
Very
cute place. I had coffee which was strong & good! Also had a
yogurt parfait which was great too--fruit was tasty and the plain
yogurt reminded me of german "quark" though it could have been greek
yogurt? Anyhoo-it wasn't super sweet which made me happy..
Seem
like a lot of teachers from the school next door frequent the place.
They even have a 10% discount for teachers on Tuesdays.
Great addition to the neighborhood.

ok - this is my new favorite place.
went for breakfast with a friend about 10 this morning. luckily, a couple was leaving and
a table with 2 "pouf" seats became available.
definitely, the best coffee in the neighborhood! my friend ordered a cappuccino, i ordered
light coffee ( my light coffee came with foamed milk ). We both sipped and simultaneously
said "ooohh - yummm!"
i had the spanish omelet - good- and excellent homefries, fresh squeezed orange juice
and whole wheat toast. my friend had some type of chicken sandwich (i don't each chicken
before noon).
also, the atmosphere, though busy, was friendly and mellow. when we left around 11:30,
it was getting very busy.
it sort of reminds me of the vibe at terra cafe, which i miss terribly...
also took a coffee to go.....

Just
discovered a new cafe and coffee shop at 4842 Broadway between Academy
and 204th on the east side of the street call "de Cafe". Small, but
very nicely decorated with open brick. They serve Panini's,
sandwiches, coffee. Tried it and liked it. This is the kind of place
that a lot of us have been hoping for around here! I'm excited and a
bit stunned. This place showed up out of nowhere.
